EDITING THE PHOTOS STEP-BY-STEP...
As I have mentioned in the previous post for editing I used Lightroom to make the images black and white. After that I have done the following steps in order to get to the final results:
I have chosen the image that I wanted to work with expressing an emotion(in this example is happiness) and opened it in Procreate.
Added a new layer including a different image showing a different facial expression(loneliness) and lowered the opacity so that both images were visible.
Decided on the brush I was going to work with. As shown in the third image I decided to work with 'Monoline', with the brush opacity being at its highest and the brush size thin, but enough to be noticeable.
I briefly outlined the added layer( image showing loneliness) using the white monoline
I then deleted the layer that was outlined only leaving the white outline and the main background image.
Lastly I played around with the outline to see where it would fit best on the page and as shown in the last image and that is what I have used for one of my final results.
END RESULTS..
These are the end results of my project after the photos have been edited. The story behind the pictures which I wanted to communicate was that a person has thousands of emotions and just because they seem happy on the outside, it doesn't mean they feel the same on the inside. I feel like this message connects with what a lot of people feel and are going through, and it can be very hard to put on a face in the morning, which doesn't express how you really feel. I really liked having the opportunity to work with this idea which I feel goes beyond just this project and which can associate with the society as a whole.
Some of the edits that I have chosen to do based on emotions is one being numb as shown in the first image. This is shown by having both the background image and the outlined person implying the same facial expression showing no change in feelings. For the next two images they include kind of the same emotions more or less, the second one shows a sad and worried face whereas the third one also includes happiness and laughter. The third image is meant to express a variety of emotions and feelings that a person feels throughout their lives. The last but not least the fourth image is meant to show a high contrast between the emotions expressed in the photo. This is one of my favourite images that I have edited which show the happy, joyful smile on the model's face and the inner feeling of misery and grief which is the exact opposite of happiness. Personally I love the message that this photo gives out and very often I can relate to this, in such days when I feel down or sad, and I have to put on a smile and pretend like nothing is wrong and I feel like there are also other people who feel the same.
REFLECTION..
Overall I am very pleased with how this project turned out and I feel like it helped me develop some of my skills such as editing and photography and I was also able to learn new stuff, which includes organising, planning and developing my ideas and I feel like this will help me a lot in the future and I will be able to get my work done and be efficient with it. I am looking forward to continuing using these aspects that I learned further throughout the course.
