PROJECT #2
As I have mentioned in the previous post, this project is a new idea which popped into my mind after I finished the first preliminary work project. I took some time to put together some aspects to see if my idea was well thought enough to put into practice, also taking into consideration that it will be time consuming and I will have to work very hard in order for this idea to be more complex than the other project. Therefore I decided to try and see how it would work out.
How I came about with the idea for the project is by looking at the other one and by picking all the ideas that I liked from it and develop them further. For the first project I started with an idea to create a series of photos and put then together, but that didn't really work out with what I was doing, after that I wanted to create a story which could be shown through images to link in with the task that I have chosen this year which is film opening, but that idea didn't quite work out either, and I feel like it was because I didn't plan the project and every step from the beginning. Therefore I learned from my mistakes and for this project I have taken into consideration every small detail and I am confident that I will be able to include the ideas that I haven't included in the other project in this project.
When I came about to thinking of the story to be completely honest I was chilling in my bed, drinking tea and listening to relaxing music when an idea popped in my mind. I really liked it and quickly wrote it down so I wouldn't forget. The idea that I had was to create a series of photos and even a small video telling a story. The story is about a lesbian couple in the late 19th century who are intensively in love and they want to get married, however their families, close friends and the society in general does not support and agree with them. Therefore the two lovebirds decide to run away and get married somewhere private in a small village that one of the partners owned right in the corner of the city. After I had my idea I went on to look at more inspiration with linked in with what I wanted to create, and for this I used Pinterest. Here are some ideas I found which I really liked:
When I looked on Pinterest for extra help I was very happy to find a wide range of ideas and photos which fitted perfectly with my likes. After having a wide range of inspirations to look at it was time to plan the photoshoot which included the same process as in the other project these being, deciding who was going to be my model(s) , the location of the photoshoot, costumes, make up and props:
For modelling I asked two of my really good girl friends Sonia and Stefania to help me out. I chose them because I have a very close relationship with them and I feel I will be able to communicate and work very easily when it comes to taking the photos. I have also taken photos of them before, and I have a brief understanding of what positions they usually pose in and the facial expressions they use which will make it easier for me to work with.
For the location as I have chosen a place at the edge of Gherla, where there is a one way road in the middle of nowhere and it is circled by hills and nature and I thought it would be the perfect place as it is very quiet, unknown and every time I go there I get a 90s vibe perfect for my project.
The costumes was probably my favourite part, I have chosen for one of the girls (Stefania) to wear a simple long white vintage dress to give the impression of bride and white shoes and for Sonia to wear a man's suit(I borrowed my father's) to give the impression that she is the broom and black shoes to match the suit. I have also chosen to include a white crown for the 'broom' and a gold crown for the 'bride' to show that they are both equal.
For the make up I have chosen to keep it very simple and natural because in the 90s people did not wear much make up.
For the probs I haven't decided to use anything yet, I do not feel that I need to include any props but if I find something interesting or useful when I get to the location of the photoshoot I will use in the photoshoot.
For the photoshoot I have some ideas of photos that I want to take. Here are some ideas:
A series of photos of the couple walking towards and away from each other
A series of photos of the couple walking towards a place
A series of photos recreating the scene of the proposal
Extra interesting photoshoot positions which shows the love connection between the couple.
