Before looking for sound for our film opening we had a vague idea of sounds we wanted to include, these being sharp, quick, irritating, disturbing sounds which would contrast what the audience sees in the movie. For choosing the sound we decided to work with Spotify, Soundcloud, Youtube, etc. We searched through both ambient music and through general atmospheric sounds - this provided a wider variety to work with. Most of the apps were very familiar to use making the research process easier and quicker. By also getting in touch with some people, we managed to find a couple experimental artists from which the type of music they produced provided perfect ambience for our film opening.

When choosing the sounds and music, apart from just using found external sources, we decided to also use the diegetic sounds from the raw footage as we felt that it might combine well with the whole atmosphere. We have the raw sound of the main character running against different surfaces, him breathing heavily at certain moments, as well as continued loud, jarring sounds, such as the door slamming at the beginning. So, this combination works out perfectly.
